Introducing the Direct Democracy Amendment Pledge

Hi everyone, Alex here! I'm here today to announce a new War on the Swamp project. As many of you know, I am from the progressive wing of the Democratic Party, and we suffered a pretty demoralizing defeat this past week when Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) dropped out of the presidential race, and today endorsed former Vice President Joe Biden, the presumptive Democratic nominee. Now, many of my fellow progressives are calling for a greater focus on direct action, and there is some support on the left for a direct democracy law, where Americans would vote on a certain number of issues every election cycle. I completely support this idea. As I have shown throughout the past almost four months of writing for this blog, politicians in Washington too often listen to big money and special interests instead of the people. If we had some form of a direct democracy in the United States, we would have a chance to implement the agenda that the majority of us support, but that Congress is too corrupt to pass. Now, even if we have a direct democracy, there still will be moneyed interests attempting to influence the will of the voters, and believe me, I'm not giving up my fight to get money out of politics. But hey, we can walk and chew gum at the same time here. So, if you agree with me that we need some form of a direct democracy at the federal level, help me get candidates for office at every level of government on board with this idea. Please tell them to sign War on the Swamp's Direct Democracy Amendment Pledge, either by sending them the above image of the pledge, or, if they want to sign it online, this Google Form. While this idea may seem like a long-shot today, if we all rally behind it, we can build up public support for it, and even make it a reality. Thank you very much!
